If you have not noticed by now, the chapters in the book do not have titles for them; they are given numbers. Your blog assignment is to come up with a chapter title for one of the first five chapters of the novel. Give me the chapter title first then explain why the title you chose fits that chapter.
Chapter 1 'Be Warned"
ReplyDeleteI would name the chapter 'Be warned" because in this chapter everyone is warning her and telling her to stay off the boat and go home.
Chapter One: My Hopes are Sinking
ReplyDeleteThis title would work for chapter one for many reasons. As she learns more and more about the ship, she wants to go on it less and less. She finds that she is sailing with only the male crew, which is kind of daunting for her. Her room is also small, people are scared of it, and someone gave her a Dirk immediately when she arrived for 'protection'. These things are defiantly a little strange. Obviously, the play on words is also a huge reason why this chapter title could work. Finally specifying "MY" hopes are sinking makes sense, as it is from her point of view.
Chapter 5: The relief
ReplyDeleteI choose this name because it is when Charlotte meets the captain. He seems to give her a sigh of relief and make that trip bearable.
i named chapter 3 setting sail because that is the chapter where they set sail on the vast ocean and i think it fits well.
ReplyDeleteChapter one:Charlotte lives
ReplyDeleteExplain:Charlotte is living to go to Providence, Rhode Island on a boat because her family has left before her because they wanted her to finish off midyear
Chapter 1 - The start of the trouble...
ReplyDeletethis is the chapter where all the trouble begins.
Chapter 1: The beginning, the reason why i chose this title is because its the beginning of the book and its the beginning of the boat trip.
ReplyDeleteFor chapter two: Establishment of the seahawk.... The reason for this is because almost the whole chapter the author explain the interior of the seahawk and what it's like.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1: Bad News
ReplyDeleteI think that is should be called bad news because Charlotte Doyle was told that the other families could not show up, people told her not to board the ship, and she had to stick with what Mr. Grummage said. All of this is bad news so that is the name of the first chapter.
If I renamed chapter one, I would title it "I have a plan, and I'm sticking with it!" I have chose this title because Charlote could not give up her dads plan. Even tho several crew members told her not to board and stay on the ship, she trusted her father (who made the arrangements) dearly. Once Charlote realizes this may not be the best desigion, the ship is already at sea. There was no turning back.....
ReplyDeleteHanna Mason
ReplyDeleteFor chapter 2, it should be called Dirk. In that chapter Zachariah gives Charlotte his dirk for protection.
Chapter 2, Bye England. I named it that because its the chapter she left England.
ReplyDeleteFor Chapter One I will name it prologue because it is before she is on the ship and it is talking about her life before.
ReplyDeleteI chose chapter 1’s title to be “The Start Of The Journey” it fits the chapter because it is the start of charlottes journey to america. She will be making friends with is a start. She’s getting on the boat and that will be her start of the journey.
ReplyDeletech 1 start of a long journey
ReplyDeletech 2 the long road ahead
ch 3 suspicious captain
ch 4 the long sleep
ch 5 stalker
Read the directions carefully. You only need to name one chapter, but tell me why you gave it that name. Explain one of the chapter titles for me.
DeleteChapter 1- Risky Ride- Everyone was very scared o get on and no one showed up besides Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteChapter 2- The Sea-hawk- this is the name of the ship and she was just forced to stay on it until they get to America.
Chapter 3- Captain Jaggery- She is hearing crazy stories about the captain and doesn't know what to believe.
Chapter 4- The bad crew- Zachariah is telling her more stories and she's sort of intimidated by how serious he is getting.
Chapter 5- A scary friendship-This is the first time she is meeting captain Jaggery and she is starting to already like him.
For Ch. 1, I would title the chapter "Boarding the Strange Seahawk", because this is when Charlotte and Mr. Grummage get to the ship, and drops her things off on the ship. This is also when she sees someone climbing up onto the Seahawk and seems kind of sketchy. She is also suspicious because her boarding ship partners disappeared, and when other crew members heard the name "Captain Jaggery" they looked scared and nervous.
ReplyDeleteFor Ch. 1, I would title it "Venture into the unknown". Since she is doing just that-- venturing into the unknown, she doesn't really know what lies ahead of her. It's kinda cheesy, I know. That's what I'd put though.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1-”How it all began”.I choose this title because in chapter one it describes how the whole journey started. It told us about the ship the Seahawk and told us she is going to England alone.
ReplyDeleteChapter 2-”Dirk” I choose to title chapter two “dirk” because in this chapter this is when Zechariah gave Charlotte her own dirk for protection. This seems to be an important symbol in the book.
Chapter 3-”Captain” i titled chapter 3 “captain” because in this chapter is where Charlotte first meets Captain Jaggery.Captain Jaggery welcomes her and promises to protect her but something seems a little off.
Chapter 4-”Suspicious”I titled Chapter 4 this because Zachariah told Charlotte what had happened on the last voyage.Captain jaggery needed more sailors so he asked random people which seems a little “suspicious”
Chapter 5-”Round Robin”I choose to title Chapter 5 with this because in this chapter Captain Jaggery asks Charlotte to keep an eye out for a “Round Robin”.This is where all the crew members sign a circle looking paper to try and overtake the captain
Chapter 1: Scene of Arrival
ReplyDeleteI named the chapter this because Charlotte arrives to the scene of the boat and finds out that the two families will not be boarding the ship with her. She also meets Mr Grummage, who warns her about the Seahawk.
For Chapter 5 I would of named it confrontations with captain jaggery. The reason why I would name chapter 5 this is because Charlotte has a meeting with Jaggery in his cabin and talks about multiple things such as the crew.
ReplyDeleteIf I would choose the titles for the chapters for the story, chapter two would be named Voices. Charlotte is laying in bed towards the end of the chapter where she hears voices outside her door, and they were talking about her. This makes everything mysterious and Charlotte is left scared just because of the two voices saying they need her.
ReplyDeleteI would pick Chapter 1's title to be-"Setting Sail" because this is when they first arrive on the ship and get a good look at it. They start doing everything on the ship in the first chapter so I feel like this title name is appropriate.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1: Get off the Ship
ReplyDeleteEveryone is acting as if the ship is poison, passengers are warning her to get off the ship. The families she was supposed to ride with have sick kids so they will not longer be attending the ride to America. Even Charlotte Doyle wants to be back to school and feel safe with her teacher.
For chapter 1, I would title it "Reasons i shouldn't get on the Seahawk". The reason i would title it that is because a couple of people warn her to not get on the Brig. First the two porters wouldn't go near the ship, then the second mate recommended that Charlotte doesn't take the Seahawk to America and to take a different ship.
ReplyDeleteI would name chapter 1 “The beginning of a horrible trip” because she is really skeptical about going on the ship and there's a lot of foreshadowing in that chapter, like a figure climbing up the rope, the other families don’t show up, and the people who are supposed to bring Charlotte’s trunk onto the ship chicken out when they say the captain's name.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1 - I would call this chapter 'The Beginning of the Odd Seahawk Journey'.I would call chapter one that because, the two families that were supposed to be riding with Charlotte couldn't make it. Also, another thing that is odd about the ship is, when Charlotte gets on the boat she sees a person shimmying up the rope of the ship.
ReplyDeleteChapter ; Escaping The Ship
ReplyDeleteI chose this title because before Charlotte had got on the ship her family members, recent passengers, and people that have rode and experienced it before had already told her to get off and not go on. They thought as if it was a bad idea, and they were thinking the worst that could happen. That's why I chose this title based on their opinion.
I would chose chapter 1 to be titled as Mysterious Mr. Mr.Grummage". I chose this because in his chapter she meets Mr.Grummage, he takes her to the 'Seahawk'. Mr.Grummage is a very mysterious person, when everyone is telling her she should get of the ship, he demands her to stay.
ReplyDeleteChapter 5 - The Captain
ReplyDeleteI chose this title because in this chapter it talks about meeting Captain Jaggery for the first time in the book or getting to know him.
Chapter 1-I would call this Chapter The Odd Beginning. In the beginning of the book every one was telling her not to get on the boat because something was wrong with it but,she still boarded the boat anyway. Also when she got on the boat she got sick right away which in by opinion is kind of eerie considering every one was telling her not to board the boat.
ReplyDeleteI would just name the chapter the begining to the end because it has a cool ring to it and i would call it that because the familys left her mr. grummage left her and she just wants to get on another boat but no one will let her so she gets on the boat and is scared and feels out of place because she is the only girl on the boat surrounded by a bunch of men
ReplyDeleteI would call chapter 1: Out with the old and in with the new because Charlotte isn't used to being on a ship, let alone, with just men, so it's new for her compared to her old life.
ReplyDeleteI would call the second chapter "the crew's story" and the third chapter "Jaggery's story" because the second chapter is about the crew's side of the story and what they said happen and the third chapter is about what Captain Jaggery said happen to the sailor.
ReplyDeleteChapter 3 Meet Captain Jaggery, because that's when she first meets the captain.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1- Warning signs
ReplyDeleteI named chapter 1 warning signs because I feel this was the chapter that everyone was beginning to warn Charlotte on what is going to happen on the ship. She witnessed a stowaway on the side of the ship, along with families leave once they hear the captain's name, Captain Jaggery. She is ended up being forced to go on the ship by Mr. Grummage because he wanted to follow her parents orders.
I would call chapter 1: Away but stay. I choose this title because no matter how how many people tell Charlotte she should get away and this is not a place for her, she still gets on the ship.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1 "Start of a not so good Journey". I would name it this because the whole way to the ship they find people who are afraid to death of the ship. Just Also the fact that she go told around 4 time to not get on the Seahawk. This would pound on her for the rest of the trip.
