A mutiny was stopped before it even started on the Seahawk. The crew's round robin and possible mutiny was snuffed out by Captain Jaggery in its early stages. If you were part of the round robin crew, what would you have done to ensure that the element of surprise was on your side, so the mutiny would have been successful?

  1. I'd have ensured to be more secretive around Charlotte. Maybe by hiding the round robin,or not murmuring about the FRIGGIN PLAN around her. It's obvious she was listening in and telling the Captain these things.
    So, yep.

  2. Tyler Finley,
I would have captured the girl before she gets to the captain's quarters. I wouldn't kill her just capture her to make sure we get the captain.

  3. I would have sneaked up on the captain and I would make sure that he didn't see the crew, so they would have the element of surprise. If he was standing on deck they would go behind him and shoot. I would also keep any weapons and the round robin out of sight.

  4. I wouldn’t be talking to anybody or telling them anything if I was part of the crew. I would only talk to my closest crew members and not tell captain what we say to each other. I would act really smart towards the captain and act like I really like him and he’s our captain.

  5. I would be friendly and nice to Captain Jaggery so he doesn't suspect anything, and he's also distracted. I would make sure that he doesn't know anything about a mutiny. And when he's distracted, the crew will sneak up on Captain Jaggery.

  6. I wouldn't really join the mutiny if I'm being honest, I kinda agree with Captain Jaggery. A Captain aboard his ship in the 1800's has the right to kill a man if they are plotting against them. Not counting what he did in his past, He is the one killed or he is the killer. I would most likely try and be like Mr. Hollybrass and stick with Jaggery. But at the same time I would bond with the crew to not get on there bad side. If I WERE on the crews side, I would most likely spy on Jaggery to see if he finds out anything. Or have an assassin on the boat so they can kill Jaggery secretly instead of a group thing where its vulnerable and noticeable.

  7. If I were part of this mutiny, I would have hidden the Round Robin better. I also would have tried to make Captain Jaggery trust me as much as possible and befriend him. If he trusted me completely, and I had him thinking of me as a spy, I could EASILY stab him in the back. It would also be smarter to, instead of charging at him to kill him, lace his food with poison. That's a pretty easy way to kill a captain. Other than that, they could also completely surround him with weapons. He can't shoot all of them, so this could be a good idea, especially if they also create makeshift shields to use.

  8. To make sure it was successful, I would have the crew do the planning in a private locked area instead of where anyone could walk in. Also,I would've not let Charlotte know and made up a lie about why they had the round robin. Lastly, I would've done it at night instead of during the day when Jaggery is alert and about and could fight back with force.

  9. I would have made sure that Charlotte wasn't listening nearby. That was the reason it stopped. They didn't make sure that nobody was around. Cranick also could have just stayed quiet instead of freaking Charlotte out. I get trying to scare her away but now she's going to be suspicious. There wasn't really anything they could have done about her finding the gun. Mr. Ewing could have been a bit more careful about her getting the needle. He probably knew about the gun in there and the round robin. If they would have been a little more careful about her around, they would have been successful in my opinion.

  10. I would've started the attack during the middle of the night so the captain would not be ready for the attack on him and his cabin and such also with it being night the captain would also be very drowsy if were to be awoken basically giving the win to the crew instead of captain jaggery and hollybrass

  11. What I would have done is hide in barrels so when the captain comes out, we go behind them and also guard Hollybrass so he can't gets guns for him and the captain. And one of the crew members can be the captain and throw Jaggary in the brig. I think Zachariah will be a better captain because he is the oldest and has been a sailor for most of his life so he has to know how to navigate that ship to America. So that is how I would use the element of surprise to my advantage.

  12. i would of put the round Robbin in a safer place that is hard to find then i wouldn't of asked Charlotte to get the needle so that she wont snoop around and look in the chests
and to make the mutiny successful all the crew should of went after the captain at the same time

  13. I would have put the weapons at the bottom of the trunk or hid them and put the round robin with them.

  14. If I were part of the round robin crew I would have hid the round robin and all the weapons in secret places where the Captain or anyone else would not find it so they would not know about it. If nobody ever finds out about the stuff or get suspicious then we would get the element of surprise so the mutiny would be a success.

  15. To keep this a surprise, I would hide the round robin in one of the crew members rooms until it was time. This way, no one would find out about their mutiny. I would also create a plan to get the Captain on the deck first, then the crew would surround him fully armed. This way the Captain would have no way of escaping. Another idea is to have one of the crew members keep Charlotte away from the Captain all day, so the Captain would not think to be prepared. This is how I would keep the element of surprise on my side, so the mutiny would have been successful.

  16. If I was a crew member on the ship and I wanted to make sure that the mutiny could be successful I would first get Charlotte on our side. Charlotte would be the only other person on the ship besides the crew members and the Captain’s headquarters. It is very easy for her to see the round robin and all of the weapons that we have and later report back to the captain on what she had seen. I would also make sure that all of the crew members have enough weapons and have planned everything out perfectly before they went and continued with the mutiny. I feel that it would not be successful if it did not have every second planned out on what was going to happen. I would also make sure that ALL of the crew members were completely committed to the mutiny. The worst thing that would happen is if another crew member was slowly feeding back information of the plan back to the captain, so the captain found out.

  17. What I would have done to ensure the element of surprise is I would make up that something is going on in the cargo hold and then that would make the captain and Holly brass head there on and on the way I would surprise attack them. Then take there weapons and have power of the ship till they get to America and punish the captin.

  18. If I were on the Seahawk, I would not have left the stuff in plain view, because if the captain would have walked in, they would have been in just as huge trouble. I also would have turned the round robin in as soon as it got those names, not waited like they did.

  19. If I was a part of the crew I would say some people go down in the trunk then the people that were in the trunk come out then the next people go in. I could have also went to go get the needle for Charlotte instead of making her get it.

  20. To ensure that the round robin was not to be seen, I would have stored it in a safe space especially when Charlotte entered the quarters. The place it should be stored is on the back of a picture frame or under a mattress. I think that they should have discussed the round robin after hours, while everyone was sleeping. Also when Charlotte needed a pin one of the other crew members should have got it from the trunk so she would not know about the pistol.

  21. Drop the weapons when captain Jaggery said too and then when captain Jaggery shots kreet hurry up and pick up the weapons and shot captain Jaggery and kill him and then if this happens then Zachariah wouldn't have not been hurt. Or what they could do is play charlotte just like what captain Jaggery has been doing to her and not let her find out about the round robin because if she won't have found out then the mutiny would have been successful

    ReplyDelete
  22. If I were a part of the round robin crew, I would have made sure to keep Charlotte out of the trunk. Instead of asking her to go get the needle, where she could potentially see the weapons, I would have just got up to get it myself. I also would have acted like I actually like/care about the captain so he would never see it coming. When you act like you don't like someone, its obvious that you are going to something about it.

If I was part of the round robin, I would have made sure everyone signed it before it is brought to the Captain. If multiple people are against one person, it would be harder for the captain to gain revenge on everyone. In the story, Zachariah is the one to receive the 50 lashes. I think everyone should receive the punishment because Zachariah was not the only one behind the round robin. Every other person that signs should have been punished. Lastly, I think Mr. Hollybrass should stick up for himself. If he doesn't feel comfortable wiping Zachariah, he shouldn't have to do it. Mr. Hollybrass has main contact with weapons, just shoot the captain!

    1. This doesn't answer the post. I wanted to know what you would have done to keep the element of surprise on your side.

I was part of the round robin, I would have been extra careful about Charlotte not finding it. Mr. Ewing should have asked someone else who knew about the round robbin for the supplies he needed. He obviously knew she was close to the captain and this would get messed up, but he wa so focoused on his work, he forgot about his secrets. If Mr. Ewing would have gotten his supplies himself, the round robin could have beed successful.

  24. If I had been a part of the crew that signed the round robin, I would have taken extra measures to make sure that the round robin or the pistol had never been found. An example, I would not have let Charlotte in. I would have grabbed the needle and handed it to her. Also, the gun needed a more crafty hiding spot so it would not have been found. Same with the round robin. Then Jaggery would have been super surprised.

  25. If I were the crew and I was part of the round robin I would at least talk about it and sign it at night. If the captain were to find out about it I would have hidden one of the members in the captain's quarters to shoot the captain. Since they outnumbered the captain they should have tried to shoot and kill him because they had a lot more weapons and people than he did. The crew messed up big time and it was just because they were afraid of getting shot when they knew someone would be killed anyway just because they had a round robin.

  26. If I were part of the round robin crew I would have been smarter around Charlotte Doyle and would watch what I say around her as well as when the mutiny is to be discussed go to the hold to discuss or some place where no one goes. To kill the Captain I would let him go into captains quarters and wait for him when he comes out. When he does come out surprise him by shanking/Stabbing him when he steps out. Then proceed to find Hollybrass and Just rush him. Surprise.

  27. I think that instead of just dropping my gun, I'd use numbers to my advantage. So instead of just dropping the gun and kicking it I'd fire my gun at him making the mutiny successful

  28. If I was part of the round robin crew I would first always keep the round robin hidden where no one could get it.Charlotte Doyle is very smart and clever so I would for sure never trust her.Charlotte Doyle found our gun so we were already screwed so I think instead of bringing it up right after that incident we should have waited to bring up the round robin. When the captain was in the best mood possible we should bring it to him so we wouldn't end up getting whipped by the captain.

  29. To ensure we had the element of surprise, I would’ve brought the needle to Charlotte when she was standing outside the room so she wouldn’t have seen the 5th person in the room, the pistol and the round robin. Then the way we would attack is by having everyone spread out on the deck so Jaggery couldn’t shoot us all at once while we rushed up to him, and one or two people up high with a pistol where they go for the watch.

If I was part of the round robin crew I would first always keep the round robin hidden and out of sight. So no one could find it and no one would figure out about it.

  31. If I was in that position I would try and not talk to anyone but the captain. I would try my best to make sure we get along easily and become close so he wouldn't think of anything. I would not mention anything about it or anything to where people would suspect it. I would also work with the crew to hide it and be on our side. I would do my very best to know that no one knows where it is at or could be.

  32. What I would of done to ensure the mutiny was an element of surprise is for one I would of never let Charlotte into the crews quarters, secondly I would of hid the round robin and guns/weapons in more hidden places other than suitcases.

  33. if i were part of the crew and i signed the round robin i woul dmake sure know one found it and i would stay on the captains good side even though i hate him just so he wouldn't think anything suppisious is going on because is he thinks something is wrong on the ship than he might find out about the round robin and i wouldn't want that to happen

  34. If I was in the crew and signed the round robin, I would lock the round robin in a safe until it was time. Then when we can start the munity my crew members and I would come loaded with weapons. Therefor captain Jaggery has all odds stacked against him. He could not threaten us because we both have weapons and there is more of us than him.

  35. In order to keep the element of surprise on my side in the case of the round robin I would have hand someone, who was apart of the round robin to keep in in there shoe and sock if they had one. Then i would of keep everyone working and then when the time was right someone would pull out the round robin and attack. With the people that are on there "brake" come up with weapons

  36. To make sure the plan was successful I would have everyone plan it in a more secretive place. I would also have everyone sign it, so no one can tell Captain Jaggery because they could be the one that gets punished. I would also not tell Charlotte because most likely she would tell captain Jaggery. I would do a better job at hiding the round robin somewhere where the crew won't even know. That is what I would do to make the mutiny more successful.

  37. If I was part of the crew on the sea hawk then I would go into like one of the rooms shut the door and talk about the round robin and how we're gonna kill the captain. If the captain had his back turned away from us crew the we would sneak up shoot him an then once he is fully dead toss him off the ship .

  38. If I was on the Seahawk I would first not leave guns in your own chest and the round robin where it could easily be found. I would but it in a certain area of the room, most likely the far corner, so if you do send someone to your chest they would not see a gun. I would also use the element of surprise. I wouldn’t wait on the deck for the captain to show. I would try to do it when he least suspects it. Most likely in his sleep or when he first walks out of his quarters in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wouldn't have let it get so easily found and out it somewhere only I've been and only i would no one. i wouldn't act any different and i wouldn't send anyone in my room

  40. If I where to be apart of the mutiny I would start by making everythaing secret. There would only be meetings in the most secret spots and everythaing would be hidden when done. Also I would get part of captains close crew to get in on it. This way you have someone from the inside to help you and make sure your plan goes smooth.

    ReplyDelete
  41. If I was one of the crew members I would have hid the stuff no where anyone would of guessed. I would of also wouldn't have made it obvious that the crew was going to do what they were going to do.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If I were part of the crew I signed the Round Robin I would hide it in a safe spot so no one could find it.I would also try to stay on the Captain's some what good side even though I strongly dislike him because if he get suspicious then he might find out about the Round Robin and that would be super bad.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Put the round robin in a hidden place were the captain does not go and will not see and have relabel/trusting source on your side.

    ReplyDelete
  44. If I was in that position i would have hid the round robin better. Also time there meeting a bit better like late at night when everybody is a sleep. so that they have a better chance of keeping it a secret.

    ReplyDelete
  45. If I was one of the crew members, I would have a better sense of awareness when people are around and I would also make sure other people don't squeal. People like Charlotte would be threats and would make our crew less sloppy. That round robin was lying on the floor where she could clearly see it. The crew just needs to exercise more caution when unwanted guests enter their sleeping quarters.

  46. I probably would have mad sure that Charlotte or a passenger like her would stay out of the forecastle and make sure that shes clueless.
